The Vintage Alhambra pendant is the piece the entire collection is built around — a single four-leaf motif in white mother-of-pearl, framed by the beaded 18K yellow gold border that Van Cleef & Arpels has been setting by hand since 1968. It hangs from a fine trace chain that sits right at the base of the throat.

Mother-of-pearl is the material that makes this work. The face isn't flat white — move it and you catch pale pink, then silver, then a warm cream, depending entirely on the light and the angle.
